Nessa sexta-feira haverá dois "worshops" ou oficinas na Livraria Disal Barra Funda - São Paulo / SP, um "workshop" será sobre como melhorar os hábitos de leitura dos alunos e o segundo "workshop" tratará sobre a necessidade de ajudar os alunos a se comunicarem da maneira mais natural possível. Ambos os "workshops" são idicados para professores de idiomas (especialmente inglês) e para aqueles que pretendem lecionar ou ejá estão estudando para isso.
1 - Getting Students to Read! It’s possible. It’s necessary!

Descrição: It goes without saying that one of the most complete exercises our students can do is read as widely and as vastly as possible. That being said, it is also a given that Brazilian students, nine times out of ten, detest reading and everything remotely related to it. But is that really true? And if that is indeed true (and I do believe we have come a long way in that respect in the past few years), is there anything we can do as teachers to help students to see that reading can be one of the most rewarding hobbies in the world, as well as a priceless tool to learn English? A student (anyone, really) who reads regularly writes better, has better vocabulary, learns and retains structures much more easily, and among several other pros, also has lots and lots of fun.
Swap session: At the end of the talk, we'll have a swap session. You're asked to bring 50 copies or so of an activity you have successfully used with your students of any level (It can be a song activity, a video activity, grammar, vocabulary, culture, speaking, listening…). The only criterion is it has to be original and prepared by you (meaning it can NOT consist of photocopies of copyrighted materials!). Hopefully, by the end of the session, besides all of the ideas we'll have discussed together, you'll be leaving with 50 (or more!) copies of previously tested activities devised by teachers from various schools, all ready to use.
